Funeral For Liam Later Today.
Today sees the first funeral held for one of the two Newcastle United fans killed on the Flight MH17.
Liam Sweeney is to be laid to rest at St Mary`s Cathedral, in Newcastle city centre at 10 o'clock. Liam's family have made it known that they want as many people as possible to be there.
This will be followed by a private burial for friends and family only.
28-year-old Liam, who lived in Killingworth, North Tyneside, died along with fellow toon fanatic John Alder after the flight they were flying on, flew over a war zone and was shot down in the Ukraine.
They were on that flight as part of their journey or legacy to follow the football team wherever they played around the world. A part of their way towards New Zealand.
It's also been reported that Prince Charles has written a letter to Liam's dad, Barry.
In it, it read:
Although I`m afraid this is rather belated, my wife and I just wanted you to know how very much our hearts go out to you following the truly unimaginable tragedy of the loss of your son, Liam, on board flight MH17.
You can have no idea how deeply we feel for you and your family over the unbearable anguish you are having to endure.
The funeral comes amid further tributes from fellow rival fans with Aston Villa the latest to recognise the 17th minute tribute that Newcastle fas have adopted this season.
