'If It's Football, It's Vital'

NUFC v Man City Preview

Today sees the first real chance for fans, players and family to pay their respect in the rightful place for John Alder and Liam Sweeney, two fans who followed their team no matter where they went in the world.

Tributes before the game and in the 17th minute will be most apparent but maybe a reflection of the game as a whole with Alan Pardew dedicating this season to their memory or what they stood for.

For the game itself, televised live on Sky, it's common knowledge that we've spent what we have recouped for once, although a lack of an established goalscorer upfront may be a hindrance, regardless, we're stronger than how we finished last season.

We have confirmed that Siem De Jong and Cheick Tiote will be out injured, they join Papiss Cisse and Davide Santon in the treatment room. Hatem Ben Arfa and Jonas Gutierrez remain in the huffy room.

Man City miss Negredo, Mangala and Aguero is doubtful.

Alan Pardew spoke of the game in his pre match ramble by stating:

One of our best displays last season was against City, and we were beaten. They`re the type of team who, even if you`re at your very best against them, will still beat you.

But I do think we`re really well set for this game. Hopefully we can get some kind of result against them because our record isn`t great. With Jack in the side, obviously anything can happen!

Nice to know that Pardew rates us as being beat before a ball's been kicked but stranger things have happened.

Head says 3-1 to Man City but a shot in the dark 2-2 is my prediction for this one.
