NUFC Tribute To Fallen Fans

NUFC Tribute To Fallen Fans

Today, the day of the first match of the season against last season's champions, Manchester Ciy, sees the first real chance for Newcastle United and it's fans to lay tribute to the two football fans killed in flight numbered MH17.

Ahead of the kick off to the game, Newcastle's captain Fabricio Coloccini and Manchester City's Vincent Kompany will lay flowers at the centre circle before a minute's silence is then carried out.

It's also expected that a tribute will be carried out in the 17th minute in the way of applause or something completely random or new from the crowd, which will then be used from then on in other games.

The two fans lives wont be gone in vain because they stood for everything that is right about following a club through thick and thin where politics and other horrible grievances shouldn't matter.

They shouldn't have left their homes with no chance of returning but without fans like that, then what do we have?

Apart from the personal tributes at the game, a memorial garden is to be created in honour of the two as well as a new community award.

The Alder Sweeney Memorial Garden, is to be a lasting memorial to both men and will become a focal point for people to remember those who are no longer with us, plus the club has also created The Alder Sweeney Community Award in their memory, which will recognise the efforts of an individual or organisation in the North East that has made an outstanding contribution in their community.
