Vast Improvement For NUFC

Vast Improvement For NUFC

In stark contrast to yesterday, we actually did well today to remind the fans that we do resemble a team when we want.

Playing a Schalke side that was missing a few of it's stars, we still had to beat what was put out in front of us and they were unbeaten over 90 minutes throughtout the Summer.

They were until now as we ran out 3-1 winners.

Emmanuel Riviere impressed with a great all round performance with his second goal of pre-season, Rolanando Aarons fluked a goal which was the result of a misplaced cross, although well deserved whilst Remy Cabella scored a decent breakaway goal at pace.

Riviere headed in the first from the impressive Rolando Aarons who put in a great cross which (Manu) still had to direct impressively in before Aarons beat a few players on the wing in a move in the second half with his cross at the end of it deceiving the Schalke keeper in dropping in off the post.

Cabella added a 3rd after a breakaway when the ball was played into his path quite a way out by a Facundo Ferreyra flick, Cabella then raced clear and guided it past the keeper.

With eleven second half changes maybe breaking up the tempo a bit, it took Schalke until the last second to score a consolation.

The final result of 3-1 was enough to see us finish 2nd in the inaugural Schalke Cup
