Striker Due In But Not The One We Want
Newcastle expect to complete a deal to bring Facundo Ferreyra on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk next week.
A deal that will see around £1.5m leave the St James' Park coffers with the option to make the deal permanent if he impresses for a further £5m on top.
The Argentinean striker will come after he initially refused to return to his parent club in the Ukraine, although it was a decision he later regretted.
He was one of 6 Shakhtar players along with Douglas Costa, Fred, Dentinho, Alex Teixiera and Ismaily who failed to report back to the Ukraine following a friendly against Lyon on Saturday due to all the bother in the country.
Scoring 31 goals in 78 games in Argentina for Banfield and Vélez Sársfield respectively, he made a surprise move to Shakhtar who paid £7.5m for him just last Summer but he hardly played, so god knows why we want him now, although he scored 6 goals from only 5 starts plus he's a fellow national for club captain Fabricio Colocinni to latch on to with Jonas Gutierrez's likely departure.
Ferreyra hasn't played at senior level for the Argentinian national side, so you can see the potential sell on value if he does make the grade.
Obviously when or if this happens, we'll have more news.
