The stripping of the clubs assets continued after Wigan completed the signing of one of our fringe players.
James Tavernier joining them for an undisclosed fee on a 3-year contract.
He may have been 22 years old and joined us pretty much from school back in 2009, but he was hardly given a chance to progress after he only made 9 first-team appearances for the club.
His time here mainly spent on loan at various clubs that included the lies of Carlisle, Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons, Shrewsbury and Rotherham, with whom he won promotion with last season.
Speaking on the Wigan cub website, Tavernier said:
It has been a long summer and I've been waiting a long time to finalise the deal, Now that it has been completed, I'm delighted.
Wigan Athletic are a Premier League club and I've always known them to be a Premier League club and hopefully I can help get us back where we belong.
So as mentioned, we get rid of another player quite easily but seem to struggle to get them in. This will eventually bite the club on the arse.
