'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sibierski: 'We Have To Believe'

When the squad was read out fot United's UEFA Cup tie with Palermo, I'm sure a few Toon fans feared the worst.

If the truth was known, I'm sure a few PLAYERS feared the worst! But Antoine Sibierski is confident Glenn Roeder's injury-hit Newcastle will shock the Italian high-fliers.

No Michael Owen, of course, but also Shola Ameobi, Celestine Babayaro, Stephen Carr, Damien Duff, Kieron Dyer, Obafemi Martins and Scott Parker are all being saved for the crunch relegation tussle with Sheffield United on Saturday. Then of course there is Giuseppe Rossi, who is ineligible because he is on loan from Manchester United, and Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't want him cup-tied.

Sibierski: 'We have to believe that (we can win) because Palermo are second in the Italian league. Even if Palermo are difficult to play as a team, with the quality we have I believe we can win over there.

'We have a squad and we have enough players to play well to have a good organisation. Even if we haven't got the results in the Premier League until now, we have enough confidence to do well over there.

'When we play in the UEFA Cup it's not the same as when we play in Premier League games, it's different. I think we're just a little thing missing in the Premier League to do better. We play well, we just need to score.

'We can use the UEFA Cup game for confidence. We need to get a good result to have as much confidence as we can for the Sheffield United game.

'Every game is very important. We want to win every game and we need to show everybody we are strong enough to win the game that's coming.'
