Statistically Speaking

Statistically Speaking

9.00am will see the release of the Barclays Premier League fixtures for the 2014/15 season.

In them will see our beloved Newcastle United for the 21st time.

History favours an away tie to a previous season top four finishing side with our last five opening day fixtures featuring opponents that finished the season there.

A home tie would only be our 4th in the last eleven seasons.

Statistically speaking, we have played twenty opening games, won seven, lost seven and drew six.

Game twenty one could be the light to the fuse of the Alan Pardew sacking time bomb or the key to the doorway of redemption.

As ever, Talk of the Tyne will provide all the answers.
