Bafetimbi Gomis Incoming?

Bafetimbi Gomis Incoming?

Like most transfer saga's surrounding our beloved Newcastle United, you can't believe anything you hear or read until you see the stated player in a leaked photo or holding the shirt aloft at the training ground or St James'

With Bafetimbi Gomis, the same applies.

Recently, some newspapers have the player joining us on a free transfer but with wages way over our supposed budget. Figures ranging from £70 - £100k a week have been mooted.

That would be a minimum of £3.5 million a year and for a 3 or 4 year deal would be well over £10 million. With no chance of getting anything like that back for a near 29 year old who would be in his early 30's then this sort of deal just isn't in Ashley's business plan.

That's if he ever has one with us as his many mistakes show.

The new TV deal has given each premier league club an extra 30 odd million a season to play with for absolutely nothing, so this could have some thinking towards a gamble that doesn't cost the club anything in reality but it still doesn't sound like Ashley's NUFC.

As ever though, we'll find out soon enough.
