Newcastle United confirmed today that our Senegalese international striker, Papiss Cisse, underwent surgery on his broken knee yesterday.
A procedure that will keep him out until the Autumn.
Cisse limped off in the 2-1 loss to Swansea in April and hasn't played since, which may have been good news for some as his 2 goals in 20 odd appearances is poor for a striker of any level.
The club issued a statement confirming that the forward had underwent an operation and amongst the piece it read:
'Newcastle United can confirm that striker Papiss Cisse underwent an operation on a fractured patella on Thursday,'
'Cisse, aged 28, will spend his rehabilitation period at the Clairefontaine Medical Centre before returning to Tyneside to be further assessed by the club's medical staff.
'He is expected to be sidelined for a number of months.'
Whether or not this extends the shelf life of Shola Ameobi at the club remains to be seen but to say we're in dire need of attacking recruitments is a massive understatement.
