Shola's World Cup Swansong

Shola's World Cup Swansong

Shola Ameobi looks like icing the cake of his career by being one step from making the World up squad for Nigeria.

In being called up to the provisional squad, he has as good a chance as any with his recent return to scoring goals.

The final 23-man list will be announced on June 2 and would be the peak of Ameobi's playing days with his career seemingly over wearing the black and white of Newcastle United.

Nigeria play Argentina, Bosnia and Iran in Group F of the World Cup Finals.
