Luuk, A New Signing.
In a turn of events designed to overshadow the press conference of the unveiling of Yohan Cabaye to a club with ambition, Newcastle United announced the loan signing of Dutchman Luuk de Jong.
Not a bad player by any means and a long term target of Graham Carr anyway, so another positive.
He was signed from Borussia Moenchengladbach with an option for a permanent transfer, although what this option is and on who's terms isn't known but if it's on theirs and he plays well here then expect changed developments.
With Loic Remy's red card not being appealed, the chances of his debut to be against the unwashed are considerably high and a decent baptism in the black and white.
de Jong said earlier on NUFC.co.uk:
'Newcastle is a great club and I have a good feeling about it,'
'I am very impressed with the stadium and training ground and have been made to feel very welcome by everyone I have met.
'It has been a tough season for me so far, but I am here to play games and want to be important for the team, and successful with goals and assists. I am really looking forward to playing for Newcastle.'
Joe Kinnear had a few words printed against his name but no-one believes what he spouts.
