Pav To Get Carling Cup Chance?

Pavel Srnicek is loving his St James' Park return, and how ironic it is he was turned down four years ago when he offered his services, only to have Glenn Roeder go knocking on his door last month.

Will the Czech keeper play again for the first team? It's now or never. With Shay Given a couple of weeks away from action, and Steve Harper only 75% fit, he could be drafted in soon.

Srnicek: 'I am back here at Newcastle on a short-term contract as cover for Shay Given and Steve Harper, and the gaffer expects me to be ready if or when I am needed.

'Well, I am fit and ready. Maybe I am closer to that dream of playing again for Newcastle or maybe I am not - it all depends on Steve and the gaffer.

'I have signed a contract until January, but I have to try and make it longer. I will take it day by day, but we will sit down in January and see where we go from there.

'Even if I only stay here for two months, it has been a fantastic experience for me.'
