NUFC Smokescreen

NUFC Smokescreen

As we enter day 21 of the 31 alloted in the Winter transfer window, we still have the equivalent of our trophy cabinet's haul since 1969.

Absolutely nowt.

Oh the noises are there alright, the will they? won't they's?, the confirmed, the unconfirmed. The ITK (In The Knows) are lapping it up but those that do know are safe in the knowledge that every single piece of rubbish banded about just provides a smokescreen to what hasn't actually happened so far.

Today, for instance, Remy Cabella was 'confirmed' to have agreed a deal to join us, then this was agreed that it wouldn't be until June then it wasn't confirmed at all and this came from the same official at his club!

Then Yohan Cabaye went through a similar scenario with the official word on both is as it was yesterday. Still players for their respective clubs.

I wouldn't be surprised if club owners got together and shared a bottle of wine before planning out the script to send fans over the edge whilst saving each other millions of quid.

After what we've been through over the years, the keeping of Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa, Tim Krul, Fabricio Coloccini or Cheick Tiote will be seen as success such is the rumour mill.

Meanwhile the smokescreen plays on.
