NUFC v Southampton Thoughts

Got all the ingredients for a classic game.

A Newcastle side who actually dictate the play more at home instead of containing all the time, away, against a Soutampton side who are quickly establishing themselves as a decent side with players of potential. They will have a go.

The biggest talking point for us is who is gonna replace Cabaye.

Normally you would say Anita but he started the last game at Man Utd and did more than enough to keep his place.

Shola was dropped on the back of playing too many games in a short period of time and my thinking is that Pardew wil stick him back in and let Gouffran drop into the hole where Cabaye lurks.

My predicted XI.

Krul
Debuchy, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon
Sissoko, Tiote, Anita, Gouffran
Shola, Remy

Ben Arfa will have been close to getting a start but with the hard working Southampton team more than likely playing at a high tempo, I reckon he'll be saved for the second half.

Past history is in our favour probably due to the 322 mile distance they have to travel to get here and for those who thought football started in the sky era, we've only lost twice at home against these.

The all time top league record against the poor travelling Saints at home is: 20 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses.

It's a season of hoodoo's being broken, hopefully it doesn't work the other way this time.
