Mackem To Return?

Mackem To Return?

Rumours that Sunderland supporter Chris Waddle is about to be installed as Glenn Roeder's No 2 seem well off the mark.

Roeder, who lost his assistant Kevin Bond two weeks ago, insists he is still in no rush to find a replacement.

Chris Waddle, once the idol of the Gallowgate, blotted his copy-book late in his career when he announced to the Tyneside public that playing for the Mackems was his real dream.

A dream he got to live out.

According to the Chronicle, 'Waddle chose to avoid all questions about Newcastle last week at St James' Park in Sky's The Match'.

Which doesn't tell us much, does it?
