Pav Pulls On Toon Shirt Again

Pavel Srnicek returns to action in a Newcastle jersey as Newcastle Utd reserves take on Wigan reserves at Kingston Park on Monday evening.

The 38-year old has returned to the club as cover for Steve Harper now that Shay Given is recovering from that horror injury at Upton Park. The Bohumin-born goalkeeper has signed a three month deal.

He first signed for the club in 1990 and left in 1998.

His last Premiership appearance for the Mags was October 1997 when he played in the 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers at St James' Park. The team that day: Srnicek, Watson, Beresford, Batty, Peacock, Albert, Hamilton (Lee), Gillespie (Howey), Tommason, Barnes, Ketsbia.

Ketsbia! What a legend lol. I thought Srnicek had retired i wonder if he is still a decent GK.

He's in good shape; played a blinder for the reserves last night. He's an ex-soldier so he knows how to keep himself in shape, evidently. More than adequate cover, and someone who has a real passion for the team. Maybe he'll stick around in the coaching set-up afterward.
