'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Another Bad Day For Boumsong

Stirling-born Gary Caldwell spent his early career hanging onto big brother Steve's shirt tails at St James' Park, and apparently at one time he cried and begged Sir Bobby Robson to let him return north of the border to join Hibs.

Now at Celtic, he scored the only goal of the game as Scotland recorded a famous victory over World Cup finalists France in their Euro 2008 qualifier on Saturday.

The result made it nine points out of nine for the Scots in Group B and the winner came on 67 minutes when Paul Hartley's corner dropped to the feet of Caldwell whose low shot found the net.

The French, boasting another ex-Toon defender, Jean-Alain Boumsong had no answers. Boumsong, as I'm sure you know, is trying to rebuild his career in Italy with Juventus.

he has to do a heck of a lot of rebuilding to save his career ... He was without doubt the worst signing Graham souness made for you lot (and there were a few !!)

There was obviously a bung potential there!! Souness looked after Rangers there okay! They got 8 million pounds for what is the worst transfer of all time. Souness took Shephard for a ride there, and with him all the Geordies too. He did though, save Rangers from going bust!

Your mangers lately have been very poor and that's Shepherd's fault for hiring them, Souness great player poor manger.

Souness was, without doubt, the worst signing we could have made at that time. Bumsnog was, without doubt, the worst signing he could have made. Bobby Robson had the chance to pick the player up for free in the summer, but left it well alone.
