Shearer A 'Big Miss' At St James'

Olivier Bernard says the Newcastle dressing room seems strange without Alan Shearer.

Bernard: 'It is strange in the dressing room. The first time I got in, I did not see him and it was weird. But that is the way it is.

'This season with the squad we have now, we should be looking to reach the top four - that is our ambition, to get back into the Champions League. We will do everything we can to get into that top four.'

'It feels like I never left. I was only away 18 months, so I did not really have time to realise I was not a Newcastle player. But I am happy to be back here again. As soon as I got that call, two hours later I signed the contract, so it was quite quick.

'Mistakes happen and I am sure I will not do it again. Myself and the fans were quite disappointed - and I was more disappointed than anybody else.
But these things you have got to do in life. I made the decision, but I regretted it straight away.'

Yes your last 6 results do look woeful, lost 4, drew 1 and won only 1, no wonder the 'geordie boys' have shut up!, on this current form Champions league can only be a dream.

It had to happen sometime. Even greats like Shearer suffer from age.

I reckon that Alan Shearer will become a coach for Newcastle in a few years.

I thought he might of wanted a game in the match at your stadium just to show he can still do it. I hope he gets back into the game soon, can he come out of retirement and play at Donny we can't hit a cows backside from a yard!

I'd hardly say we've shut up, Cravens. If you had seen the Manchester United game, we were singing songs for them even though we were getting stuffed on the pitch. As for Bernard; the sooner we have him fit, the better. Need some proper competition on the left side, as Babayaro doesn't even look interested half of the time.

ramage is doing well on the left but can we afford taylor and ramage in defence as both ar still really inexperienced, babayaro should have been released ages ago but bernard is not the answer back 4 should be Carr Taylor Moore and until cristmas bernard but i also feel nzogbia could deputise there
