Parker - England Call Up

Wayne Rooney won't be the only player returning to international action for England's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Macedonia and Croatia.

Scott Parker is 'odds on' to get the call to represent his country, after impressing Steve McClaren in several games this season.

McClaren has to make the difficult decision to replace injury victim Owen Hargreaves who broke his leg playing for Bayern Munich earlier this month.

Parker, 25, has been frozen out of the England team for two and a half years but has been in good form since succeeding Alan Shearer as Newcastle captain.

He has won two caps for his country but has not played since a brief appearance as a substitute in a friendly against Sweden in March 2004.

Sven-Goran Eriksson dropped Parker onto the standby list for the Euro 2004 finals and never picked him again.

Long overdue! Its great to see Scott being called up - if he'd been playing for Tottenheim or West Ham he would have been an automatic choice. Lets hope he doesn't get injured........
