'If It's Football, It's Vital'

New Supermac Needs A Terry Hibbitt

He wears the famous Toon number nine, but I'm sure Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins doesn't really understand it's history. Alan Shearer apart, he certainly won't know of those who have graced us with their presence in past decades.

But the player a lot of fans link the £10million summer signing with is old Supermac himself, Malcolm Macdonald. The lightning pace is there for all to see, but many feel as though Glenn Roeder hasn't found the Terry Hibbitt to set the striker on his merry way.

Martins has got what it takes, as he showed at West Ham, and he was delighted to get off the mark on home soil against Estonian minnows Levadia Tallinn. But we could get so much more out of that pace if Roeder played to Martins strengths and used the through-ball from deep, or had a 'Terry Hibbitt' on the wing sending over the cross-field ball.
