McLeish Hangs On - But So Is Souey

McLeish Hangs On - But So Is Souey

The Newcastle manager goes into the game on Saturday knowing only a defeat will not have Freddy Shepherd swinging the axe ... unless it gets embarrassing. And the Champions League has saved Rangers manager Alex McLeish from a similar fate.

Souness: 'Yes I have fondness for Rangers, but I have no interest in returning to the club. There is absolutely no truth in these reports.'

McLeish's future at Rangers remains uncertain despite their 1-1 draw with Inter Milan which secured his side a second-place finish in their Champions League group, but reports north of the border insist the former Lyon coach Paul Le Guen has been lined up to replace him.
