'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Given Set For Home

Shay Given is expected to leave hospital on Saturday. Perhaps it could have been earlier but he probably split his sides laughing at his mate's (Steve Harper) slip on Wednesday evening.

Glenn Roeder: 'Shay will be leaving hospital in the morning and be travelling back up to Newcastle. He has started to feel a lot better over the last couple of days. Even after the operation, he was in a fair amount of pain from surgery and needed to keep taking the pain-killers.

'I have spoken to him every day and he is feeling a lot better. Once we get him back up here at the weekend, then probably early next week, he can come back to the training ground.

'I know the surgeon and he said he had done a neat and tidy job, made the incision as small as possible so he can recover as quickly as possible. We are probably looking at around six weeks until Shay will be fit again.'

In My opinion, the best keeper in the premiership. of course petr cech is up there also, but sometimes, with all due respect, this guy has won matches on his own for your team. superb keeper, im so glad he's not available against us on sunday.

Six weeks? No way - apart from being No1 keeper at my beloved United this is a key member of the Republic of Ireland team who I also love - a few pints of the old black stuff and he'll be back between the posts in four weeks - come on Shay!
