Craig Moore is starting to look a commanding figure at the heart of the Newcastle defence, and took on cult status when he up-ended Craig Bellamy on the right wing at Anfield on Wednesday.
But he could be under pressure now that Titus Bramble and Steven Taylor have returned to training.
Bramble picked up knee and ankle injuries during the 1-0 UEFA Cup win over Levadia Tallinn last week, while Taylor returned from England Under-21 duty with a foot problem.
Manager Glenn Roeder will make a late check on striker Shola Ameobi, whose long-standing hip injury continues to be a concern.
