'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Toon Sigh Of Relief!

When that camera flashed around St James' Park on the BBC Panorama programme on Tuesday you could hear Toon fans far and wide sigh: 'here we go again!'

Tuesday's BBC Panorama television programme into alleged transfer irregularities involved many clubs, but (apart from Kevin Bond who was at Portsmouth at the time) gave Newcastle a wide birth ... thankfully!

Screened at 9pm on BBC1, billed as 'Football's Dirty Secrets', it was centred around Bolton boss Sam Allardyce. But there is a backlash and Big Sam is preparing to launch legal action against the BBC as they claimed he received illegal payments.

Allardyce: 'I'm aware of the situation. Because I haven't seen anything of the programme I need to have a look at that and to take a view of that before I make any comment whatsoever.

'But if there are things saying wrong about Sam Allardyce believe you me, I will be fighting them.'
