Europe An Unwanted Distraction

Well, thanks to some penny pinching in the Summer, a small squad got stretched even more by injury and ruined what could/should have been a task to repeat or build on the foundations that we built in that unexpected 5th place finish.

Now we find ourselves further still in relegation trouble with those that didn't believe it, now certainly having to stand up and take notice of our peril, maybe not as a direct result of our European form but a massive factor in it.

The extra games put on our busy schedule by the qualification last season, overwhelmed by the lack of investment, are nice but no help to anyone with only three points separating us from that financial trap door, yes, THREE POINTS.

Today's disgrace of a performance against Man City maybe partly due to not wanting to under perform against Benfica in the Europa league quarter finals but that competition is on the back burner as far as im concerned.

We need big results NOW against league sides to give us the chance to build again next year and as Bruce Forsyth used to say.

Points make prizes.

None more so than to reap the riches of the new TV deal, which comes in next season but memories of a great European campaign will mean nowt on a cold wet Tuesday night in Doncaster next season and that's what we're gonna be doing unless everyone wakes up.

Talk of a manager change will happen but either that or a massive overhaul of tactics is a must for us to progress as this season just hasn't been good enough.
