'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sir Bobby Robson at 80

Bobby Robson was born in Sacriston, County Durham on the 18th February 1933. The fourth of five boys that his parents had.

A player who became a manager is pretty much his career to a tee but not as simple and as easy as that to describe.

An 18 year playing career and a 36 year managerial one, with a list of clubs as long as your arm. All with nothing but niceties and many a funny story to tell about Bobby.

All this accumulated with a deserved knighthood in 2002 for services to football and Sir Bobby was his title from then on.

If the great man was still alive today then he would be sitting down to an 80th birthday dinner somewhere.

However, his death hasn't dampened down the fact that some will be celebrating the feat tonight at The Sage in Gateshead for an event we brought news of a few weeks ago.

Previous Article.

Hopefully a night to remember for everyone and plenty of money is raised for the prospective charities.
