'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pardew Vents at 'Legal' Goals

A 0-0 draw at home to one of European football's bigger guns is usually seen as a positive but for us and Alan Pardew in particular, it's the cause of some anxiety.

The reason being because at least one of the two disallowed goals were perfectly legal with the second being a debatable offside, going back to the first 'offside' one though, it was two yards ON.

Speaking earlier, Alan Pardew said 'Both 'goals' were goals. For both decisions the last player was level, which means they are both legal goals.

'Cisse could have two goals to his name if decisions had gone his way. When decisions like that go against you it puts fire in your belly, though, and my players will want to put that right next time.

'A score draw takes us through now so that is something to fall back on. I don't think they have the advantage and it will be very tight in the second leg.'

The result and the officials decisions have now caused a minor headache for us as in to which strength of side we should put out, plus with the added injustice which has added some fire to the game, it may just adjust the mindset with the Southampton league game following some sixty seven or so hours later.

It's a headache we could do without.
