NUFC Legend Back In Rehab.

NUFC Legend Back In Rehab.

A genius is overused for many things but this word best described the little Geordie who had the world at his feet.

Easily the best homegrown talent to grace the area on the pitch for many a year and that includes the likes of Beardsley, Waddle and Shearer!

Since he left our club though, his social life has seemed to take a downhill path.

Maybe it was the bright lights of London, maybe it was the people that surrounded him or maybe he just couldn't handle the limelight, I don't know but what is certain that he hasn't been a genius off the pitch.

News today that he has been admitted to a treatment centre in the United States for his alcohol/drug problems follows on from the media reports of yet another breakdown with the shocking pictures of his bloated body and emotional state splashed all over the papers.

Hopefully this time, he gets the help he needs and sticks with it because his time is running out.

In a statement, GamePlan Solutions said Gazza had been touched by the help and support shown by fans and figures within football over the past few days.

The statement read: 'Alcoholic Paul Gascoigne has been experiencing a tough time of late.

'He has been asking for help and has willingly been admitted to a treatment centre in America.

'He has complex issues that are currently being dealt with by professionals.

'Paul has been extremely touched and overwhelmed by the generous offers of help and support over the past few days.

'He is motivated to fully understand and control his addiction problem under guidance.'
