Tiote Cheicks Out

For consecutive years, we have done without the services of one of our blue chip brigade in a critical period of the season, all thanks to the African Cup of Nations.

In this instance, Cheick Tiote was the player missing and on normal form would be one of the first names on the teamsheet. His tough tackling and precise passing, just part of his mass appeal.

The fact that he hasn't played up to potential this season doesn't really matter because neither had the rest of the NUFC squad until recently.

Now we look like a team and with Tiote's return this week, thanks to his Ivory Coast side being eliminated, it will only strengthen us further.

The added bonus for us is that Tiote actually played well in the ACoN tournament with him also notching his first ever goal for his country today.

The Ivorian playing in a confident, pacy, slick side can bring the best out of his game and propel us further up the league.

Hopefully we steer clear of more injuries and finish the season well.
