Pardew's Summer Striker List

Pardew's Summer Striker List

It doesn't take a genius to work out where we are lacking in quality, depth or numbers and that is the striking department.

The infamous clause in Demba Ba's contract that was leaked by Harry Redknapp, eventually got activated to prize away our most successful striker since Alan Shearer and we didn't manage to replace him.

Alan Pardew has spoken out on this and made it pretty clear in what area we would be looking to invest in soon.

He said 'When we lost out on Remy it was pretty evident we weren't going to get a big striker.

'They are pretty difficult to get over the line. You look around and nobody apart from Remy has really moved - maybe Danny Graham, but I don't think he's in that level.

'I think that's something we will look at in the summer.

'I want Man United's position - Van Persie, Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck. That would be nice. But we haven't got that.'

By my reckoning, we need three quality strikers minimum and arguably, we only have one.

The million dollar question then is, will we spend the minimum £20 million to get the two over the line? or will we gamble on foreign upcoming names?

Somehow this time, I reckon we wont stand still.

I guess it depends if there are any French strikers that fit the stict criteria. If not, Captain Shola will lead us into 2013/14.
