'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Yoan Gouffran Over The Line

So, it seems that Derek found the pin number for the NUFC bank account after all with a second confirmed signing in two days.

Today's signing follows the acquisition of powerhouse defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa from the same French league which brings our contingent to epidemic proportions and with a rumoured one or two more to follow in the next week, it strengthens our hand considerably.

Gouffran is an attacking player who can play the lone striking role, on the wing or as part of a pairing and it's an area in which we have been light since the departures of Messrs Leon Best and Peter Lovenkrands.

He has a record of eight league goals in twenty Lique 1 games this season with another four in the Europa league. Last year he notched a fairly impressive fourteen league goals in thirty four games. Which makes him currently a one in three game goal man. Overall, he has an average of a one in five ratio, which is similar to Shola.

Primarily, I don't see him as the replacement that we've been craving for in the 'purple' striking role that Demba Ba had but we all know how the board work at this club and it's highly likely that we'll wait until the Summer to get the man we need.

Hopefully, it wont be too late then.
