'If It's Football, It's Vital'

NUFC Spending Spree

Tuesday night greeted us with the news that we'd completed the signing of Montpellier's French captain. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

Who signed on a five and a half year deal for a rumoured transfer fee of six and three quarter million pounds.

Also heavily speculated to be following imminently are Yoan Gouffran from Bordeaux for just under 1 million and Nancy left-back Massadio Haidara for close on 3 million.

Gouffran himself, tweeting his goodbyes and saying that he's joining us and Haidara just being confirmed though various close links to the club.

Another name being banded around is Moussa Sissoko, who's been rumoured through the French media of signing a pre-contract deal but the recent speculation is that we're paying 1 million to move the deal forward to this window as he's had a bit of a falling out with his club, who, in turn, have got him training with the juniors at present.

Whatever gets confirmed in the next day or so, doesn't remove the fact that we need a top class striker to replace the one that got away in Demba Ba.

Hopefully the club has learned it's lesson that gambles very rarely pay off in this game and that if you stand still in football, you go backwards.

So, here's hoping the club has the balls to make a real statement of intent and get those fans back onside.
