Pardew's Shopping List

If rumour and counter rumour are to be believed, then Alan Pardew is in for a busy day tomorrow and the remaining nine days after with:

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa - doing his medical and signing by Wednesday.

Massadio Haidara is supposed to be another coming in on a near £3 million deal tomorrow.

Yoan Gouffran is another heavily linked player and one that gets mistaken for the better Yoann Gourcuff by name only. The one we're after is a striker come winger whilst the other is a full French international who is on a few team's transfer lists.

On saying that, Gouffran is a better player than Ranger, Xisco or Sammy, so a mooted £900k deal is a sound one if it comes off.

Also, heavily linked is the Birmingham keeper, Jack Butland but a 5 month loan back to his club seems daft to say the least.

The likes of Danny Graham, Gary Hooper, Davide N'Gog, Darren Bent and Siem de Jong have also been mentioned but these are just smokescreens I feel for an unknown striker to be brought in next week.

As ever, we wait and see but it's a survival target for us this season, which is massively disappointing.

We should have done more business in the Summer, which in turn could have avoided the unnecessary mood we have at present. Hopefully, if we survive, lessons will have been learned.

£4m for a young England keeper for next season makes sense if you can get £15m for a young Holland keeper in the summer. Mind you, maybe it doesn't make a much sense if you have just sold another young England keeper for half that amount.
