It's no secret that we need recruits but it's a secret who the club are targeting.
Alan Pardew even making the point that many of the names being mentioned in the media are way off the mark, which must mean that he's part of the 'exclusive' transfer club inside St James'
Ultimately though, It's up to the regime, what they spend and who on.
Im guessing the majority of us would have an idea of the positions that need strengthened as we've debated this in other threads but it still depends on a number of factors.
Take yesterday's game for example, a quality performance from the midfield upwards with the defence being a mixture of a famous Clint Eastwood Spaghetti western I could mention but when you realise the players we had missing through injury or suspension, it makes our recruiting not seem as desperate as we thought.
or does it?
Adding Cheik Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa, Jonas Gutierez and Steven Taylor to yesterday's line up would have maybe frightened Man Utd a little bit and given us a bit more confidence but the weaknesses would still remain.
We need a right back who will perform every game, not just yesterday in front of the former team mates and fans that he idolised in his youth and we need a decent partner for Fabricio Coloccini.
Whether that is Steven Taylor is highly debatable as he's injury prone. On his day, he's the perfect foil but these days I reckon will be few and far between.
Even Davide Santon, who ive got down as my young player of the year and close to being player of the season has question marks over him as im still not sure what is his best position.
Is he a left back, right back or a winger?
Anyway, what is clear is that we need new recruits but not necessarily in the positions that have been advertised in the media and the likes of Demba Ba may stay anyway, so for me, Id buy a right back and two central defenders. A left winger at a push as well but then again, what do I know?
Ive only followed the club through thick and thin for over forty years, breathed NUFC and have black and white blood running through my veins.
