Cabaye The Key

If ever we needed a performance from our French enforcer then it's today.

His pre match prediction of stopping Steven Gerrard will stop Liverpool from playing will need him at his best to bear fruition and there are signs that he can do this.

Alan Pardew raved about Cabaye in the pre match interviews in which he ranked Cabaye in the top 8 Premier League midfielders but top of his all time personal list of players managed. Above the likes of Mascherano, Carrick, Barton and Nolan.

On his day, he has an engine that purrs and his passing range right up there with the Scholes's of this world. His desire is second to none and his vision a joy to behold.

He just has to be on his game today if we intend to take three points back up the road to St James' for the first time in the league for nineteen years. Even scoring a goal is success in part due to it being eight seasons since Patrick Kluivert scored a proper goal there.

Last year's was an own goal.
