And I don't know what Martin O'Neill saw in ex-Leeds player on Sunday, but despite a half-hearted performance, Villa are back in the race to sign him.

According to reports this morning: 'Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Newcastle winger James Milner in a £4million deal'.

Which is interesting, because Newcastle were happy to take £3m for him back in January.

Sir Bobby Robson bought him and promised to get the best out of the kid. But how can we forget the words of his successor Graeme Souness, who said: 'We won't win anything with a team of James Milners.'

I can't believe you're letting him go. He was one of our best players last season and is only 20 and has the potential to be very special. I'd be very pleased if he comes back to Villa.

I'd say that would be a good move for Milner. He had a great year at Villa and MON will transform him into one of the best midfielders in the country.

Well if he wants to keep him Geordie boys then why doens't he call the thing off? Also how can you guys say Villa shhot their mouths off when you filled half a stand when Owen joined. Also you say look at our strikeforce, lets look at your defence!!!! Newcastle have some great fans, probably the best in the country but you are not doing yourself any favours by insulting Villa and the fans.

geordie boys there is no need to get upset. Then again with Roeder, Titearse Bumble, Solano, Luque, Babayaro maybe you should be. I am feeling a sense of anger from you?? It is because M'ON turned you down and you are now stuck with Roeder. Look on the bright side Steve Bruce will be sacked by the B-lose soon and you will be having him. Oh how we laugh.

geordie boys you seem very upset. Well i suppose you have a right to be as your club spends big money BUT never wins fu*k all. Milner knows he will have more chance of success at the Villa than the toon.
