'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fergie Backs Toon

Rossi is only 19, but he will be thrown in to cover for Michael Owen's long-term knee injury. Although Sir Alex was quick to add the clause saying he cannot play against Man Utd at any stage of the season.

Rossi is seen as Ruud van Nistelrooy's long-term replacement, but Ferguson was gracious enough to bail Roeder out of the XXXX to help the Newcastle manager's attacking options.

Ferguson: 'It was a big decision for us especially as we don't have the choice of strikers. But this is something that Giuseppe wanted as he needs regular first-team football. When he returns, he will be a more experienced player who will be able to offer us much more.'
