Shearer v Keane - Will It Happen?

Shearer v Keane - Will It Happen?

Roy Keane has joined Sunderland and obviously his number one priority is getting his shell-shocked troops into the Premiership to face bitter rivals Newcastle United.

I'll never forget the day we went to the City Ground to play Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup replay. Forest won 3-0, Keane scored and ran to the Toon end (who had out-chanted the the home fans despite the score) and made a gesture, shouting '**** you Geordie *******!'

Since then we have had the classic Shearer/Keane battles that have seen the then Man Utd midfielder walk the walk at St James' Park.

He swung a punch at Shearer when the GOALden Boy called him a prat. But Shearer saw the hay-maker and dodged it. A big regret to Keane, who said in his book 'I wish I'd connected'.

But Shearer was better than him then, and when the Geordie legend DOES take over at Newcastle, he'll be a better manager too.

Niall Quinn has got himself a passionate man - no doubt - but a man who has walked out of more situations than I can care to remember. He is a quitter! Ask his previous clubs ... ask his country.

Will the Shearer/Keane situation ever happen?

I doubt it. Keane won't see out the season at Wearside. He said yesterday 'I thought to myself 'Why Not''.

By Christmas he will have a list as long as your arm!

Typical Geordie comments. Take your head out your arse. There's no way you could possibly say that Shearer will be a better manager. I'm a Sunderland supporter, but I can still say that Shearer is a model professional and has the attributes to be a good manager, but no more than Keane can. Both men are legends of the game. How can the dip stick that posted before me see a world class manager in Shearer, but not in Keane. Take your black and white tinted classes off and look at the big picture. Everybody who is anybody has already said that they think that Keane will be a top manager. Bryan Robson, Sir Alex, David Plat, McLaren, Bobby Robson!!!! and many more. Are telling me that they are wrong and you're right? You know nothing about football and what you've just posted makes you look like a fool. In fact, quite a lot of people would like to play under Roy Keane. Many, many professionals have the utmost respect for both Quinn and Keane. If you can't see that then my point is proven. You're just a dozey Geordie that can't see past his own gravy stained black and white shirt. Sorry to any real Newcastle fans who know what they're actually talking about, bu this guys is just idiot. A Mackem that know what he's talkin' about!

Oh, not only that. Keane has worked under the best managers in Clough, Ferguson and Strachan and is also a greater leader and organiser. Shearer is learning trade of people like Roder, Souness, Gullit...hmmmmm. Keane has leant from the best, Shearer hasn't. Get your fact right before come talkin' pap!

Im geordie through and through, and a season ticket holder for Newcastle, but I have to say jpjenkins has a point. You are talking about 2 men in the same mould, strong willed, seriously ambitious and whilst both men are professional, I would obviously suggest Shearers touch has a more mature controlled responsible approach rather than Buck Rogers ! It wouldnt be fair to compete the two, Shearer is a geordie, loves the club, and has nothing to prove in the eyes of the fans. Whilst Keane, Irish (what is it with Mackem Irish), will win the crowd because of his tough mentality, but he still starts from scratch. Needless to say, I think Keane reminds me of Mark Hughes, it will take him several years to stop his gritted teeth approach to football, and have a more mindful control of his responsibities. Either way, I see Roy K maybe being number 2 to SAF, possibly grooming him to take over. He is Man yoo through and through. So unfortunately Sunderland, if he is a success, enjoy it whilst it lasts ! Good point though jp !

TP Jenkins you maybe right about Sir Bobby and Ferguson thinking that Keane will make a good manager, but on sky tv a bit back Quinn, his chairman voiced the opinion that he would never make a manager. There's been bad blood between Quinn and Keane in the past put that together with Quinns original thoughts about Keane as a manager and you have a volatile mix. We know Keane does't forgive and forget. Ask Haaland.

Can't stand Shearer or Keane but would be cheering Shearer on if I had to choose! Why do people expect Keane to make a good manager? Is it because he's diplomatic, has tact in abundance, always thinks things through before acting, remains calm in a crisis, is a good communicator who never offends anyone, etc, etc!! He'll be a nightmare once the honeymooon period ends, bad choice Niall.

geordie boy I sense some anger in you. I think that as there in no chance of Sunderland getting promoted, there is a chance that you boys will be playing them next season. From what I saw on Sunday you have a chance of being in a relegation battle. All your transfer targets are turning you down. Your best players are injured or want to leave. You have Roeder as a manager. Titus bumble in defence. Do I need to go on? Just look at the banner on top of this page. There is Shearer (quit), Owen (crocked), Boumsong (gone and crap), Given (so called 'cause he keeps Given goals away), Babyaro (sex case) and Bumble (Sunday League reserve). So I predict Keane and Shearer will be getting it on in the fizzy pop league.
