NUFC - What's going on??

NUFC - What's going on??

As i type this, a lot of things remain uncertain apart from the familiar stance of the Newcastle boardroom. NO COMMUNICATION.

We sit here around 5 weeks or so from the start of the new season and there's many issues not cleared up.

Firstly we have an uncertain schedule of friendly games, i say uncertain because there are games being arranged and tickets for sale in these that we haven't had confirmed by the club which in turn makes it difficult for folk to arrange to get there. Games in Germany against Chemnitzer FC and AS Monaco. Also in Austria against Fenerbahce not forgetting a game in Holland against Den Haag. Ungrateful or disrespectful of the fans support could be used here.

Also we have the issue of new strips. We know the internet has leaked some designs over the years which are nearly always right and we've seen the pictures of the new training gear in official pictures, so why not get these on sale? The summer holidays are coming up and families will have a short period of time to save a bit of cash to splash out on kit or maybe have a lack of funds. Having a longer spell of time would have meant more kits could have been bought in time for the new kick off. An opportunity missed i feel.

Next on the agenda we have the recruiting/selling of players. Thanks to the great season we had last year on a relatively small squad, it became common knowledge that we needed to strengthen, however, we've done the exact opposite, we've got rid of or sold an astonishing 14 players! granted, most of these are reserves or not classed as good enough but players of the calibre of Guthrie, Best, Fraser Forster and Peter Lovenkrands have been given away or sold for a pittance. Admittedly Alan Smith had served his time but he's another body lost with only 2 recruits in so far, so light isn't the word here.

These issues also have the uncertainty surrounding them of who will or wont still be here for the new season. Daily rumours in the well known rags have every one of the blue chip brigade sold off and whilst the stance of not commenting on rumours may have it's uses at times, it doesn't always apply. A finely worded statement now and then not only appeases the supporters but also gives confidence to all those involved as well as shut up the press. Lower league clubs can say a player is not for sale, so can we. The players involved have pledged their allegiance and the club needs to back his up with a statement of intent.

Hopefully as Ive went to the trouble of getting a few things off my chest, we can get some things sorted as it's surely not a case of OOPS i forgot to say by Derek or the person who is in charge of media relations although an interview now and then would be appreciated. So howay Newcastle, What's going on?
