Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland will make his Wigan debut at St James Park. Three days after making his international bow against Greece, Kirkland will see senior action with his new club after arriving from Liverpool on a six-month loan.

Fitz Hall, Denny Landzaat, Emerson Boyce and 5.5million record signing Emile Heskey are also included by manager Paul Jewell, while Pascal Chimbonda is also expected to start after apparently making his peace with the club.
