'Toon Fans Deserve Better'

'Toon Fans Deserve Better'

He had one fabulous season playing alongside Alan Shearer, before Freddy Shepherd decided he needed the money and sold him to Spurs. Something that Ferdinand wrote about in his book, and it still rankles with him.

Ferdinand: 'I really hope Newcastle break their trophy drought this season. It's the one club I played for, apart from QPR, that I'd love to see win a trophy because their supporters are amazing.

'After the job Glenn did last season, it was right the club gave him the opportunity to have a go.

'It's very difficult to replace Alan Shearer and losing Michael Owen is a huge blow. They need to bring someone in to support Shola Ameobi and Albert Luque. Ameobi definitely has the chance to shine. He's been in Shearer's shadow for the past couple of years and this will be the opportunity he needs to come forward. Luque isn't an out-and-out centre forward - his best position is on the left side - so it's not the same opportunity for him.

'But Newcastle need to win a trophy because their supporters deserve it. They haven't seen success, and that has to be put right.'

Maybe Newcastle supporters should cut their losses.

Good luck 2 newky fans on that trophy but i dont think its gona come any time soon. now is the time to move on top class players ie; klaas jan huntelaar of ajax or jan venegoor of hesselink also of ajax. both of these two would bring you 20-25 goals a season and after spurs have ruled ourselves out of a move for ven of hes, you could pick him up for around £8m and still hae spare cash laying about. another option would be mido. he showed last year that he can mix it with the best and as we now have berbatov and have no need of his services other than as a 4th striker, he would be a great player to sign at around only £3m as well

The problem is Newcastle need a 1st class striker, I would have thought that that would have been the priority before signing duff, Newcastle are short of money so whatever happens it will not be a striker of class........sorry to say it lads but unless Freddy digs deep I can see only mid table for you guys!!

Newcastle are a very well supported club but have absolutely balance in their squad. Duff will be a great signing for sure and at 5 million will prove to be a bargain IF you can keep him fit but given your track record with injuries I wouldnt count on it. So the question is do you have enough money to strengthen yur squad where you need to? Both defenders and strikers? I dont think so unless you sell most of the fringe players and replace them with just a few faces of quality... mind you we managed to rob Charlton of 3 milion for fat Andy Reid so you may be lucky enough to get 5 quid for Boumsong.

Your defence is a joke & a relagation battle should not be ruled out, just remember that Roeder has taken EVERY side he managed DOWN(Gills,Watford & Wham)........Luque would struggle to score in a brothel,Is it 50 yrs since you won anything..??You are well out of the top 5 reach...Chelsea,Liverpool,Manure,Arsenal & Spurs are the only BIG clubs in the country so dont kid yourselves that your a big club because you get big crowds, thats only because your a 1 club city......The truth is things will never work under Freddie Shepard,he is a moran who is bankrupting you due to his poor judgement in footballers talents & worth....You are fast turning into a Leeds United.

Apologies for chalky76... he's not typical of Spurs fans - we don't all have our heads in the clouds / up our own @rses.. Chalky - one good season does not give Spurs the right to mix it with the other 4 teams you mentioned - not yet... Newcastle have every right to claim that they are on level with Spurs and then some - sure, they've had a bad season - but they're still in contention with the money they make, fanbase - players such as Parker, Given, Emre, Ameobi and signings such as the calibre of Duff. Also - if you're going to claim the higher ground on Newcastle - learn how to spell - what is a 'moran' - descendant of some distant Irish clan? COYS

the prem needs teams like spurs and newcastle to be strong enough to challenge the top 4. It seems fairly obvious where your weakness's are, although your defence was much stronger under roeder bramble and boumsong wouldnt fill me wtth confidance, however taylor and rammage will hopefully be pushing for a starting place. with only ameobi + either luque, duff or dyer (if ever fit) as a second striker you will struggle until this is sorted.

Is it just me or does the squad picture on your official website of N'Zogbia look like a young Ledley King?
18/08/2006 14:13:00
newcastle are *****, they are the most hyped overrated shower of ***** in england! how about they lower their expectations instead, i mean they havent even won anything in about 50 generations of people. the only people who love newcastle, are geordies, no-one else! we have fans all over the world. and DB we have finshed convincingly above them for the last 4-5 years. how do you work out they are anyway near the same standard as us? truth be told, they are a joke, they pin their hopes on one player and hope for the best. its embarressing!
18/08/2006 14:31:00
DB wtf are you going on about how the hell are newcastle on the same level as spurs?? they have never one anything period and you sticking your tongue up there arses to try and make freinds is pathetic. They are not gonna win anything this year so forget it pal!!
