'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Expectation Level

It's that time of year again, in which we get a chance to mull over the accounts of Newcastle United football club and it's been rumoured in the press that we have made a return to profit for the first time under Ashley's tenure. Something that was speculated on here ages ago that this would be the case, so nowt new there.

However, this isn't about point scoring, it's just the time that all our speculations will more than likely be put to print in black and white, So the inevitable pats on the back can now start to happen.

To say Ashley's time here hasn't been controversial would be the biggest understatement of all time but the dust is startle to settle on his numerous atom bombs and what's come out of the carnage hasn't been such a disaster after all.

We'll never forget all the negative issues that have happened in the 4 and a bit years that he's been here and why would we? however, we must be fair to remember the positives as well. The negatives could be argued in that there's no love in business with it being a dog eat dog world or it's not how you get there, you just get there.

The inquisitive side of my nature sees hidden agendas all the time with this regime but taking a step back and looking at the facts finds very little to complain about. In fact, it makes us all look like we haven't a clue and should just trust those in charge.

Not as easy as that, i would say because communication is a big deal in life. This is the biggest issue here and i feel that if we got the right sort of communication then many of the 'negatives' would never seem so bad.

Anyway, before i get lost in a web of ramblings, it's good that we can finally see some light in the financial department without any great need to trim our squad. We have a bright future ahead, whether we gain Europe this year or next, we have shown that we are not a million miles away. Competing at the top of the league is a lot closer than it's been for a number of years also with us at least knowing which positions we need to strengthen with it not being a lot and within a manageable budget as well it would seem but the biggest factor of all in where we are right now and maybe has been our biggest enemy over the years is THE EXPECTATION LEVEL.

Gone are the days where only big name, big money signings will do, we all want value now. So by fluke, good luck or whatever, this regime of ours has somehow controlled it or as i would say 'tamed the tiger'.

All we need now is to get it to roar in tandem and who knows where we can end up.

Fair comment mate but it will always be the case until we get some decent communication.
