'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reward loyalty with honesty.

So then, we're into the last 52 hours of the January transfer window and so far it's been satisfactory.

We add at least another defender and it will have been a positive one.

However, as usual, the fans are left with a sneaky suspicion that a valuable player will be sold off to the highest bidder. A good option if we were a company in liquidation but we're not. We're a football club.

Football can't be run like a normal business and there has to be room for sentiment.Fans get attached to players and as a result this can help merchandise sales not to mention a growing bond between team mates. The only chance of success at a club is by playing as a team with team spirit being near the top of a list of must haves. A club this size and with the tradition, not to forget the loyalty shown here HAS to be battling it out at the top end of the Premier league. It's a crime, to be honest, for us to be anything but a competitor in this league. Feeder clubs are those with ambitions of survival at best if not a lower leagued club.

So, hopefully the club can be honest and try their very best at turning down any offers as we're the 3rd best supported club in England with any further turnover boosted, the higher we finish in the league. Speculate to accumulate is a fairly common phrase used nowadays. It's about time we used it here.

Excellent points as ever, TNMW. In the past, utterings about Carroll not leaving, not going anywhere, not at any price have surely hit merchandise. If the club can not be trusted, will supporters buy the shirts? We already have a change with the Virgin logo. Why buy before the close of the transfer window? If popular players are going to be sold, why buy before the end of the summer window? Honesty and loyalty breed trust. Trust breeds commercial return.
