Parker Wants To Be Like JT
And he wants to reach the heights of former Chelsea team-mate John Terry, who has been named as David Beckham's successor.
Parker: 'John will make an absolutely fantastic England captain. He's a class act, class on the field and class off it. He's a terrific leader. When David Beckham announced he was packing the captaincy in, I thought there was only ever one man for the job - JT.
'He's a real leader of men, is very popular in the changing room and I think that can only help. I certainly learned an awful lot from him during my time at Chelsea and I'm still putting some of it into practice today.
'I played against him a number of times as a kid in London. I seemed to spend the whole of my childhood playing against him. I used to play for Valley Valiants and he would be playing for one of our biggest rivals, Tower Hamlets. He was a central midfield player in those days and he used to boot me all over the park.
'We had a few run-ins in days gone by but, even at that stage, you could tell what kind of a leader he was going to be.'
