Roeder Keeps Rumours Ticking

Roeder Keeps Rumours Ticking

The latest striker linked with a move to Newcastle (and there has probably been about 580 by now) is Inter Milan's Nigerian Obafemi Martins.

Glenn Roeder: 'He is another very good player, different. He is very, very quick and strong.

'Other managers have expressed they would be interested in Thomas Gravesen. I don't mind being in competition with other clubs for players that I want. That would suggest they are highly valued.

'Damien Duff came here and he chose us in front of Tottenham and Liverpool, and that's absolute fact as Martin Jol reminded me when I saw him the other day.'

I heard Athletico have slapped down a £12 million offer and a six-year contract for Martins. Seems we're going to have a lot of competition if we're to land him, not to mention pay out a lot of money. I can't really see Martins and Owen playing well together, we'll have no aerial threat and what use is that when we have good crossers of the ball?
