'If It's Football, It's Vital'

For Your Ears Only

It was obvious this weekend that whatever the Newcastle United boss told his players at half-time they didn't take in, because the second period of the game was as bad as the Toon have played this season. So perhaps that was the reason why he did not attend Sunday's post-match Press conference after the defeat. If the players didn't listen to ranting ... why should the referee?

Apparently not, Souness was frightened he said more about referee Howard Webb than the FA require to hear.

Souness: 'I must have paid out in the region of 75,000 in fines in the last three or fours years at Blackburn and Newcastle and with Christmas coming up, I cannot afford any more.'

To be honest I don't think there were many Toon fans hanging around to hear what he had to say!
