Do We Need The 'Boo Boys'?

And Jean-Alain Boomsong was another target of the 'Boo Boys'. As it happens, Butt headed in two late goals as Newcastle drew 3-3 with Villarreal at St James' Park.

When things go wrong, the Geordies need a scapegoat. And I'll openly admit I've had my moments over the years, giving the likes of Wayne Fereday and Mark Stimson abuse. But never did it spur either player to get any better.

It can cause divisions in the crowd, too. As one fan had taunted Butt from the moment he first touch the ball, it was obvious he was going to get the inevitable from another Toon fan when the goals went in ... 'that's shut YOUR mouth!'

So ... vote in our poll ... do the players respond to booing?

Definitely not! It only disheartens them.

Fans pay their money and can boo all they want. My experience...VERY few players can use it to their advantage. Why do you hate Butt so much? BTW, can we have Duff back? ;-(

we pay money to go to games, if a player plays crap they deserve to get booed that should spur them on to play well next time

Give Butt a chance

Lets face it the Newcastle fans have more reason than most premiership fans to boo their own players because as a whole they are crud, carry on doing it I say! In a few years you might get the idea that the team as a whole plays better if tou cheer them, you numpties!!!!!!!!!!
