Roeder As Good As Mourinho?

Roeder As Good As Mourinho?

Mourinho has won it all. Championships and cups, as well as the greatst of them all ... the Champions League.

Roeder was manager of West Ham - they were relegated; Watford - they were relegated; Gillingham - they were 92nd in the Football League when he was sacked.

But Duff knows what he knows (allegedly).

Duff: 'It was great playing for Jose for two years. He is a great boss and a great guy - but the new gaffer here is exactly the same. I spoke to Joe Cole and I got glowing reports on Glenn. I didn't have to think about it twice.

'The first time I spoke to Glenn on the phone I knew. Then I spoke to Shay Given and the lads and they said the same: that he was a great guy.

'I had a lot of problems at Chelsea last season. It was a drag but I am only looking forward now.

'This club should be in the Champions League regularly. It is a massive club. We have 49,000 season ticket holders. It is a special place to play and we want to be in the Champions League.

'I couldn't go to Spurs because I have been a Chelsea fan for the last three years. It came down to a straight choice between Liverpool and Newcastle. I listened to my heart and it said go to Newcastle.'
