'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Norwich 1 Newcastle Utd 2

Both scored in this testimonial for Canaries skipper Craig Fleming, and United also included first-team captain Scott Parker, who once had a loan spell with the Canaries.

Norwich started brightly. Leon McKenzie crossed a low ball into the area just ahead of the advancing Robert Earnshaw. And McKenzie and Earnshaw soon combined well again to set up the Wales international just inside the area, but his angled shot was too close to Stephen Harper.

But Newcastle made them pay when Peter Ramage latched on to a loose ball in the six-yard box following Nolberto Solano's right-wing cross to put Newcastle ahead on 21 minutes with his first senior goal.

James Milner's quick free-kick was deflected on to the woodwork by Norwich defender Jason Shackell, but on 57 minutes, it was 2-0.

N'Zogbia shot into the roof of the net from 15 yards.

Paul McVeigh's close-range strike pulled a goal back for Norwich.
